Richard Graves, co founder of G+GA, studied at the University of Dundee where he was awarded a Bachelor of Architecture and ARUP Structural prize for his year group. Richard has worked for several distinguished architectural practices including Hoskins Architects and Sheppard Robson where he gained awards for his work on Clyde Gateway`s South Dalmarnock Masterplan and Easterhouse Arts Centre.
From 2020 his focus has been on rural, volumetric building typology - developing advanced modular construction techniques within a factory setting and delivering these buildings throughout rural parts of Scotland. This research-led approach underlines our values as a practice - to create buildings that are sustainable with a light impact on the environment. We work collaboratively with Modular West Ltd and have employed the technology on a variety of buildings for the Highland Council and Storas Uibhist. With 25 years in architectural practice Richard believes a design lead focus is key to producing quality architectural responses.
He is a member of RIAS and recently was a key note speaker at the Rural Housing Conference 2023 discussing his recent work on Smart Clachan, Lochboisdale.
